| Man, I'm sure I don't have time to write this entry, but I'll do it anyway. I am absolutely swamped at work. I am currently trying to:
- Sort out the Thanksgiving Parade. This includes finding the mysteriously absent banner. I have the instruments, the music, the jackets, the flags, the flag holders, but no banner. If any of you Eastern Michigan bandsmen have seen a big yellow tube in your band rooms, could you send me a note?
- Work out the drumline for January. It looks like a lot of the details are in place.
- Sort out the details for DYB in Florida.
- Get everyone in place for kettle kickoff, November 17.
- Make sure my funding/ hiring process works for the Holiday ensemble. By the way, I currently have Melanie, Lindsay, Brett B. and Andrew who have expressed an interest in playing this Christmas time. If you want to be a part and earn a little holiday cash, please call me.
- Work out the Greater New York youth band trip here in April.
- Make it to Corps who ask for me.
- Make a pregnant wife happy.
- Figure out how we are going to have two kids and keep our house.
With all that being said, I'm really excited about Christmas time. I love getting up on the roof and putting up an absurd amount of lights, I love fresh breads and cookies that make the house smell good when you walk in the door and I LOVE getting Christmas gifts.
So I guess here's the question: How much should you spend on gifts for friends? Immediate family? Extended family? Spouses?
Luckily, my mother always just wants pot holders and my dad always just wants everyone to be happy and healthy, so those two are taken care of. The rest is the problem.
| 1) Remember that DYB is NOT this Saturday, but next Saturday and it is back at 5:00PM. This will be our final rehearsal in 2006, so we need to get a lot done.
2) A Bit more exciting, Shannon and I got a new car. We traded in our '04 Saturn for a '07 Trailblazer. It is great; We've never had so many options in a car. I mean, 6 disk changer, XM, Moon roof, it's great. And it has a big back seat for an
3) Extra Baby seat! That's right, we're having another kid. We were going to keep it a secret until Thanksgiving, but Shannon couldn't wait, so here it is. It looks like our timing was perfect, with the baby being due on June 28, or otherwise known as Music Camp. So, everyone say a prayer that we have a boy this time. There are already enough girls around my house.
Anyway, I just thought you all should know! Bye!
| Hey EMYB members!
Remember that we have DYB this Saturday at 5:00PM. We'll be looking to patch up/ learn some of the toughies from last year like Glorifico, Swingtime Religion and Gaudete. If you could take a few minutes to look at these pieces it would help to make our rehearsal move along and make us sound our very best. See you then!
| Interesting fact of the day: Americans eat nearly 100 acres of pizza every day - that's approximately 350 slices per second!.
Easter Weekend was a great time; we went to Chicago to spend the holiday with Shannon's folks. Here are some of the things we did:
- We rode our bikes by the lake and nearly got all three of us soaked in the rain
- We went to the free zoo for an hour and then paid $12 for parking
- We (that is Shannon, me and Grandparents) spoiled Ellie with lots of candies and toys.
- We ate lots of junk including donuts, stuffed pizza and cheesecake
- Shannon and I played with the CFOT band; Her cornet had no spit valve and my bass trombone had a broken trigger.
- Met Brian and Katrina's little girl Maddy. Just goes to show how scrawny Ellie is. Ellie has well over a year on her, but only weighs like 7 more pounds.
Anyway, we are off to LA this weekend for Joel Harmon's wedding. Should be a blast. I tried to get Shannon to rent a Corvette, but we are getting a stupid impala instead.
Oh yeah- and DYBers, can you think of a better day for a BBQ?
| Though most everyone looks bored in this picture, everyone who guessed that the mouth was Jamie's gets 17 points. Well done!
DYBers- I had a thought on Saturday; Since we had our trip in the middle of the season this year, do you guys want to come over for a BBQ at my place? June 3 looks like a good date to me, but what do you think? It'll be completely optional, but good fun. Hopefully we'll have an announcement about our next trip then too!
